August 21 Denbigh and Flint ShowI read with interest in the Denbighshire Free Press that 65% of your readers are for an extension to a two day Flint and Denbigh Show
What marvellous news! And yet there are "show stalwarts" who have given a mixed reaction to this statistic! In fact our Tory North Wales AM says "It is not practical to extend the show to two days" I believe that it is complete madness to ignore the wish to extend the show.
Having worked on the Federation of Small Businesses stand at the show, I was given the opportunity of speaking to many different people.
The common feedback was that the show should take place on a Friday and Saturday. It should not take place in the same week as the Anglesey show!
As part of the regeneration of Denbighsire and the transforming of our County into a real winner, I believe that a two day show, on a Friday and Saturday could go towards setting the foundations and foster the spirit of enterprise.
There are now very few County shows which run over one day. The reasons for this are obvious. A two day show will be more practical and more profitable and cost effective and would enable the exhibitors and competitors an opportunity to see and expereince the show themselves. You only need to look at other counties through Britain to see that an overwheleming percentaqge of county shows are now two days or more.
Local MPs and AMs and Councillors should look into a concrete proposal of making the Flint and Denbigh show a two day show.
At the same time they should work with the landowners of the feasibility of constructing a permanent site for this showl This site could be used for exhibitions and cultural shwos. What better show to have on this site but the Eisteddford 2013.
We know how great the show has been and is! We need now to push together to make the Flint & Denbigh Show the best two day show in Wales. Let's see the potential and together make it happen!
August 15 First Class Delivery!!!Last week I became a Father for the first time and welcomed my daughter Lili to the Vale of Clwyd.
During the months leading up to the birth of Lili I visited Glan Clwyd hospital countless times for scans and health checks of my wife and baby.
What struck me during this time was the wonder and success of the NHS system and the professional and dedicated staff. During a time when there is such negativity about the future of the NHS, and the funding problems at Glan Clwyd I felt I must praise the service and staff. I have never experienced such care and dedication in my life. This ranged from the community midwifes, through to the hospital midwife, the day unit at Glan Clwyd hospital, the doctors, registrars and Consultants. And Yes my wife saw all of these people due to various problems and so I am speaking first hand. At all times the dedicated staff were helpful and professional. Often they worked longer than was expected of them in order that a particular task was finished. Of course there are flaws in the system but what I experienced was the NHS at its best and a team of people who worked tirelessly in order that I was able to be the proud father of a healthy baby. You are simply the best keep up the good work at Glan Clwyd Hospital. |
