I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of you for reading my diary and for supporting me this year.

As you know I am not going away! You will see much more of me in 2006!

Denbigh & Flint Agricultural Show Excitement

Thursday 18 August,a date set in my diary for a days holiday as I could not possibly miss the Denbigh and Flint Agricultural Show. It was fantastic. Well done to all the Organisers and Denbighshire County Council. So much to see in one day.

The day was a scorching hot day with bright blue skies stretching across the Vale of Clwyd. The views from the show field as people relaxed and enjoyed themselves is probably some of the most stunning in North Wales. As I walked around soaking up the atmosphere of this show I realized how educational many of the exhibits were. For example there was an excellent display with birds of prey where the commentator talked children through the various birds of prey and which species lived in Wales.

Asking questions to the children in the audience led to a very participating display where I feel sure the children learnt something new. What magnificent and beautiful horses paraded at the show. In every ring you could see the hard work and effort that everyone had gone to ensure that their horses shone and gleamed in the sun as they took part in the various showing classes.

Of course I managed to have that ever important drink in the Presidents' tent where I spoke with many interesting people.Later in the day I also managed to visit the members tent and again met with friends and family .

The Showjumping was something to be admired, with Jeff Billington a well known rider talking us through the course as he walked it before jumping it himself later in the class. I think for me the most exciting part of the day was the hunt relay which was held in the main ring as the grand finale. Phew, fast, furious and extremely exciting. I have to take my hat off to the riders, what excellent horsemanship and brave riding!

What better way than to round the day off but a BBQ with friends. Thanks to Paul and Linda, local farmers for the invite and a most entertaining night. Hope this becomes a traditional BBQ!
